The article by Nicholas Carr describes how the internet has changed the way we think, the way we read texts, such as articles or passages, and the way we process information. Carr recognizes and understands how much we use the internet, therefore, his main point is to show how that is negatively effecting us the more we use it.

Carr uses a metaphor of a jet ski and a scuba diver to describe how his reading has dramatically changed from being a person that dove deep into the words on the paper to now becoming a person that just skimmed along the surface of the paper, and he believes that this is all caused by the internet and the way the information is distributed.

In many ways I disagree with the assumptions that Carr makes. I believe that the internet has proven to be very beneficial to the people who use it and it has helped speed up the advancement of our technology and the rate at which we retrieve information.

I think the internet has changed the way people read, not in a bad way, but in a more efficient and helpful way.
